AIM juniors are excited about the opportunity to attend the SMIFC Conference
The annual Student Managed Investment Fund Consortium (SMIFC) conference
is an opportunity to enhance student learning and scholarship, record best
practices in investment management among SMIF partners, provide a vehicle for
student networking and exchange of ideas, and provide a permanent repository of
relevant literature and recorded student experiences.
This year’s project is a financial analysis exercise of the
subject company: Apple, Inc. (ticker: AAPL). Financial ratios, valuation models
and other statistics and variables can be used in the analysis – in addition to
macroeconomic and industry analysis. An investment write-up and a video
presentation will be evaluated by CFA Society of Chicago volunteers on a blind-review
basis.
The keynote speakers are Charles K. Bobrinskoy, Vice Chairman,
Head of Investment Group, Portfolio Manager, Ariel Investments; Robert Stein,
Deputy Chief Economist, First Trust Advisors L.P.; and Daniel G. Sullivan, Executive
Vice President and Director of Research, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
Tours of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and Chicago Board
of Trade will be available. Colleges may
bring more than one team and those may include both undergraduate and graduate
students. This is Marquette AIM’s first visit to the SMIF Conference.
