JMAC Students to Visit Marquette AIM Program
Marquette’s Applied Investment Management (AIM) program is
honored to host high school students from James Madison High School, a campus
within the Milwaukee Public School System.
James Madison Academic Campus (JMAC, pronounced Jay-Mack),
located on the Northwest side of Milwaukee, is a comprehensive high school
(Grades 9 through 12).
They are also a National
Academy Foundation (NAF) school. They offer two academics: Academy of
Health Sciences and Academy of Finance. In addition to classroom learning, JMAC
students participate in athletics and a variety of clubs.
In January 2016, Rachel Kauer and Patrick Rorabeck of Make A Difference - Wisconsin visited the AIM program. Ms. Kauer (a Program Manager at Make A Difference – Wisconsin), is responsible for connecting high schools in need of financial literacy programming with experienced volunteers from the business community in presenting their interactive Money Sense program.
It was during this meeting that the students in the AIM program volunteered to work with MAD-Wisconsin to establish an afternoon where students from James Madison High School could visit the AIM program.
AIM program director, Dr. David Krause said, "We are excited for the opportunity to provide the James Madison students with a chance to learn more about Marquette University and our program. Our students are interested in talking about their decision to study finance. Joanne Wycklendt and other AIM students have done a terrific job of coordinating the visit on April 8th - and I know that Make A Difference - Wisconsin has been active in supporting this event. I know that Joanne and the other students are planning a series of activities for the high school students that include a tour of campus, lunch, and small group sessions where they will learn about educational and career opportunities in finance. It should be a very valuable experience for all students involved."
