Best Wishes to Robert Yahr --- 38 Great Years at Marquette as a Professor of Accounting

Robert Yahr and David Krause
Today was Dr. Bob Yahr's last day as a professor at Marquette. Dr. Yahr came to Marquette University in September 1977, later receiving his doctorate in accounting from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) in 1979. Previously, he received two other accounting degrees—a masters degree from UNL in 1972 and a bachelors degree from Drake University in 1970.

Before beginning his doctorate, he worked with three national public accounting firms--Ernst & Ernst, Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co. and Wolf & Co. He has taught a number of different accounting courses at Marquette in his 38 years at Marquette. In addition, he served one year as Acting Accounting Department Chairman, was the director of the initial Master of Accounting Science program, and is currently director of the department’s Internship Program.

His interests in governmental accounting are expanding beyond the traditional state and local governmental units to include both federal government accounting for the United States of American and governmental accounting in other countries. He taught many different accounting courses and was always a strong supporter of the AIM program.

Bob was a great colleague and friend. To those of you who had him as an accounting professor you know about his strong support of students. He ran the accounting internship program for many years and was a marvelous, dedicated professor. He will be missed; however, if you wish to find him he'll be in row 2 behind the Kane County Cougars dugout (http://kccougars.com). Best wishes Bob!
