Keith Hanson Visited Students in the AIM Class of 2018

On
Wednesday, April 19, 2017, Keith Hanson made his 9th visit to Marquette's AIM
program. A Marquette 1986 graduate (College of Business Administration, Finance
major), Keith was one of Dr. Krause's earliest investment students at Marquette.Presently Keith is a Consulting Analyst at the State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio where he is responsible for equity investments in the consumer discretionary sector. He and his family live in Columbus, Ohio. Previously he worked as a portfolio manager in Cincinnati for Ohio National Financial Services.
In class this week he talked to the AIM students about his
experiences and approach to equity analysis. Keith engaged the students in a
discussion about two stocks (Camping World and Home Shopping Network). He was
able to highlight the differences in his approach to evaluating growth and
value stocks using these two companies as examples.

Besides his expertise as an equity analyst and portfolio manager, Keith won an NCAA track championship in the 10,000 meter run in 1986. He is originally from Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
Dr. Krause, AIM program director, said "It is always great to have Keith return to our campus. He was one of the strongest undergraduate finance majors I've had the privilege of teaching at Marquette. Besides his remarkable athletic abilities, Keith was fervent about investing. I am pleased with his professional success and it is a delight to have him return each year."

Marquette
M Club Hall of Fame
Selection to the M Club Hall of Fame is the highest honor for a
Marquette athlete. An individual is eligible five years after the class
they were in graduates and only performance while a Marquette
student-athlete is considered. Teams that achieved outstanding
accomplishments and individuals who greatly contributed to Marquette athletics
over an extended period are also eligible.

A multi-event
track and field star, Keith Hanson won the 10,000 meters at the 1986 NCAA
Championships and was a three-time Division I All-American in cross country,
finishing third at the NCAA championships in 1985, 12th in 1984 and 17th in
1983.
Hanson also won the 5,000 meter championship at the 1986 Florida Relays and claimed the 10,000 meter championship at the 1985 Southwest Missouri Relays. A four-time selection to the All-National Catholic team, Hanson was also a four-year honoree to the All-Central Collegiate Conference Team, and at the time of his induction, held eight school individual and relay records. An honors student who majored in finance, Keith was a two-time Academic All-American and received the 1986 McCahill Award, the highest honor a Marquette student-athlete can receive. In 1987, he won the Founders Award which recognizes the most outstanding Amateur athlete in Wisconsin. |
