This semester the AIM program will again welcome numerous
outside guests who can bring applied knowledge into the classroom
On Friday, August 31, PJ Dallman visited Marquette’s AIM program
and presented on the capabilities and use of FactSet – one of the leading
providers of financial information and analytic software for investment
professionals.
The AIM Research Room is fully equipped with not only uFactSet,
but also Bloomberg, Morningstar, and Thomson Reuters. These financial platforms
offer AIM students access to data and analytics.
All students in the AIM program (including the newest members
who began their studies last week) have access to FactSet and the other
platforms. PJ Dallman provided an overview of the capabilities of FactSet and
offered advice to the students regarding the tools available to conduct
fundamental research.
AIM Director, Dr. David Krause, and co-teacher, Bill Walker,
have emphasized the importance of building codes into the financial models the
AIM students employ.
Krause stated, “I’m pleased that PJ was able to provide a basic tutorial to the newest AIM class on the coding capabilities within FactSet. Bill and I realize that AIM graduates not only need to be competent with the Excel financial modeling skills, but they need to learn how to code to make reproducible models and incorporate real-time data.”
