Marquette AIM and FMA Students Attended the 10th Anniversary of "Invest For Kids" Investment Conference in Chicago!

Marquette students come away from the conference with many new investment ideas - and an appreciation of different approaches on how to deliver stock pitches

Scott Schroeder (Marquette alumnus, board of trustee member, and co-founder of Balyasny Asset Management) has been involved with the Chicago Invest for Kids organization for several years.  


IFK Audience pictureThe group hosted their 10th annual investment event on Wednesday, October 24th from 1:00 pm -5:00 pm at the Harris Theater in Chicago, in addition to a special luncheon/speaker for students only which began at 11:00am.

  • The conference featured presentations from successful investment managers across multiple asset classes.
  • Managers presented their market views and specific investment ideas in concise 15 minute presentations.
  • The conference also featured legendary investors Ken Griffin and Sam Zell in separate fireside chats. 
  • Each year the conference draws over 1,000 attendees and includes a wide cross-section of investment professionals, family offices, and private investors.
  • The Co-Founders underwrite all of the conference expenses so that 100% of funds raised go directly to various beneficiaries.


Since inception, Invest For Kids has donated nearly $12 million to carefully selected children’s organizations in underserved areas of Chicago. Their rigorous due diligence process results in the selection of their seven beneficiaries from over 100 worthy applicants each year. They target smaller organizations where they believe their grants will be most impactful, enhancing and widening the reach of the programs they offer.
