The annual Marquette Finance event featured alumni
presentations and networking opportunities
The Careers in Finance event was held on Friday, October 26,
2018 from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Marquette University’s Alumni Memorial Union.

Over 100 Marquette undergraduate students attended the event
where they learned about career opportunities in the finance industry.
Careers in Finance has been designed to provide an afternoon
of panel and Q&A discussion about careers in corporate finance, commercial
banking, investments and commercial real estate. The event concluded with a
networking fair.

During breakout sessions the students had the opportunity to
rotate through three 40-minute breakout sessions throughout the afternoon. Student leaders moderated the breakout
session panels and ask questions similar to the following:
- How did you find your first job and how have you progressed through your career path?
- What are the things that you did in college that had the largest influence on your career?
- What are the most interesting aspects of your job?
- What aspects of a career in this field do you consider particularly good? Particularly bad?
- What special advice would you give a young person entering this field?
- Are there any specific courses a student might take that would be beneficial in your field?

The networking
reception that followed combined elements of a career fair and networking
mixer. The Careers in Finance even is
open to all majors, with the majority of attendees studying finance. Students were provided with a “guidebook”
that offered a brief description of each attending organization.
